Duty Manager [South Africa]


 

We are on the hunt for a well-presented, experienced Duty Manager for this exciting opportunity in the White River area with a Lodge of 20 keys.

It is important for the Lodge Manager to be involved in all aspects of the lodge operations. You will be a key person of reference for employees and clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise work at all levels (receptionists, kitchen staff, maids, office employees etc.) and set clear objectives.
  • To assume full management of all departments as and when required and assuming full responsibility for the entire Lodge operation.
  • Plan activities and allocate responsibilities to achieve the most efficient operating model.
  • Communicate with customers when appropriate (welcome them in the facilities, address their complaints, find solutions to problems, offer information etc.)
  • Deal with maintenance issues, shortages in staff or equipment, renovations etc.
  • Collaborate with external parties such as suppliers, travel agencies, event/conference planners etc.
  • Inspect facilities regularly and enforce strict compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Manage smooth running of breakfast.
  • Manage check in and out on clock.
  • Ordering supplies and stock.
  • Many support services are outsourced, and a centric detailed execution is required.
  • ·To carry out any other duties as may be required from time.

Job requirements:

  • Certificate / Diploma / Degree relevant to the role.
  • Proven experience as Duty Manager, minimum 3 years.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages in added advantage.
  • Understanding of all hotel management best practices and relevant laws and guidelines
  • Working knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of hotel management software is an advantage.
  • Reliable with an ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Outstanding leadership skills and a great attention to detail.
  • Will report directly to the lodge manager and directors/owners.

Salary: R12,000.00 - R15,000 per month , accommodation can be negotiated.
