JOB SUMMARY
The IT Engineer will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures/processes adhere to Magna standards, enabling staff and business partners. This individual will work to troubleshoot problems and mentor the end-users in using the systems. Assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide first level support to resolve technical issues.
- Engineering of SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
- Install new / rebuild existing servers, computers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain installation, configuration and operational procedures.
- Contribute to and maintain system standards.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs.
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
- Monitor daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up.
- Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
- Control and assign privileges, provide authentication and authorization to the end users and establish security of databases. Assist in planning and support of storage solutions and capacity.
- Complies with the requirements of Quality Operating System (QOS).
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education : Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration – Required
Management/Leadership training Business Finance training – Desired
Knowledge: Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Share Point and Office System
Fluent with Windows 2003-2008, 3-5 years’ experience.
- Hands on experience with Wired and Wireless networking, pc and server virtualization software, virus protection, backup systems, NAS/SAN storage devices; 2 years of experience.
- Proven background of providing great customer service.
- Must have excellent customer service skills in always putting the customer first.
- Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm and directed fashion, and lead teams in such situations as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess exceptional problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve project issues and challenges.
- Strong attention to detail and deadline orientated.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Must be accustomed to working on various issues simultaneously.
